Türkiye ends the €30 duty-free limit for online orders
From 6 February 2026 every postal or express parcel bought from abroad is taxed in Türkiye, however small its value.
A presidential decision published in Türkiye's Official Gazette on 7 January 2026 removed the €30 exemption for goods bought abroad and sent by post or express courier. The change took effect 30 days later, on 6 February 2026.
How parcels are taxed now
- There is no value below which a parcel enters tax-free.
- Parcels for personal use up to €1,500 and 30 kg pay a single flat-rate tax on the CIF value (goods plus shipping): 30% if sent from the EU, 60% from any other country.
- Goods on the special consumption tax list (ÖTV list IV), such as cosmetics and electronics, pay an extra 20%.
- Carriers charge a clearance service fee on top, typically a few hundred lira per parcel.
Who is affected
Shoppers using Temu, AliExpress, Shein, Amazon and similar platforms pay tax on every order, and small orders become relatively expensive once the fixed clearance fee is added. Foreign sellers shipping direct to Turkish consumers should show the expected tax at checkout to avoid refused deliveries.
